Friday Inspiration: The All Souls Trilogy

In Honor of the Tuesday, July 15th Release of the Third Installment in the all Souls Trilogy, The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness I thought I’d share some reviews and thoughts on the first two books and an intro to this wonderful final installment in this series!

First off Discovery of Witches

“This tale is a smart, tense, provocative, and enchanting read you will not want to end and will be relishing long after the last page is turned”

Reviewer: Viviane Crystal

Second: Shadow of Night

“If you loved A Discovery of Witches because of Harkness’ extensive and detailed descriptions of everything, you’re in for another treat. Harkness bought Elizabethan England to life using her professional knowledge and her unique writing voice: fashion, writing, architecture, food, music, writing, cooking, art, jewelries, home decors, smell of spices, and even the sound of church bells…. Be prepared to be immersed into 1600 Europe, from England to France and Prague, whether if you’re prepared or not. I recommend you to drop or finish every other book in your list to get ready for the most sensual ride in your life.”

Reviewer: Booklover Mom

I am not going to share anything from the third installment, Book of Life simply because it was JUST released and I have yet to finish reading it myself…teaser much! But here’s the book summary from

“After traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness’s enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches—with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency. In the trilogy’s final volume, Harkness deepens her themes of power and passion, family and caring, past deeds and their present consequences. In ancestral homes and university laboratories, using ancient knowledge and modern science, from the hills of the Auvergne to the palaces of Venice and beyond, the couple at last learn what the witches discovered so many centuries ago.”

So pick up your copies of these amazing books ASAP! Be it from your local bookstore,, Barnes &, I care not, just DO IT! Trust me when I say you’ll be in for the ride of your life!
